The goal of the symposium is to promote public discussion and inspire civic action around the topic of Sustainable Culture. A dynamic conversation between leaders in a variety of fields - science, business, art, photography, architecture, conservation, & government - will demonstrate that the environmental art movement is really a social movement happening on many fronts, both locally and globally.

What is emerging is a sense of a new consciousness toward a sustainable future, and NWM’s role is to demonstrate that the fusion of art and the environment is a powerful synergistic tool for social change. We would like to provide you with the opportunity of being recognized as one of the leaders of this burgeoning movement.

The symposium’s format will emulate the City Arts and Lectures extremely successful Conversations at the Herbst model. Moderator and three panelist guests sit on stage on big comfortable chairs and engage in a lively, informal discussion around the topic at hand. Experts will define for themselves just what Sustainable Culture means, and the reach of its implications. Panelists will speak personally about the lessons they have learned, emphasizing inspiring and transformational real-world examples. It is the belief that a true conversation will shed the most light on this important topic, and allow for a thought-provoking, interdisciplinary discussion.
